What is Lead The Game Academy (LTGA)?Lead The Game Academy (LTGA) is a basketball training academy focused on helping kids improve their basketball skills while building leadership, teamwork and confidence.
-
What makes LTGA different from other basketball programs? At LTGA, our goal is to ensure every child has the opportunity to develop their skills in a supportive, team-oriented environment. That’s why we keep our classes and packages affordable and flexible, catering to different levels of commitment. Our small group sessions (max 16 kids per class, with 2 dedicated coaches) provide personalised coaching, ensuring each child gets the attention they need to grow. But we’re more than just basketball training - We prioritise Leadership, Teamwork and Confidence Building, helping kids develop both on and off the court. For those who can't attend during the week, we also offer Sunday Funday game sessions, providing extra opportunities to play, learn, lead and have fun!
-
Does my child need to have basketball experience? No, not at all! LTGA welcomes beginners to advanced players. Our small group structure ensures each child gets the right level of coaching and support.
-
Where are LTGA classes held?Classes are currently held at Kent Park Primary School in Ferntree Gully, allowing us to be a centralised location for surrounding suburbs including Boronia, Bayswater, Wantirna, Scoresby, Rowville and many more.
-
What age groups do you cater to?LTGA offers classes for a range of age groups from 5-12 years old, ensuring kids are placed in sessions that not only match their skill level and development needs, but help them build friendships with other kids of similar ages.

How do I book a class?Booking a class is easy. Once you've created an account, you need to simply follow the steps below: 1️⃣ Purchase a Class Pass or Package – Visit the 'Plans & Pricing' page on our website and choose the option that best suits you. 2️⃣ Go to 'Book Classes' – Once you've purchased a pass, head over to the 'Book Classes' section. 3️⃣ Select your class – Choose the session(s) for your child on Friday, Sunday or both. 4️⃣ Confirm your booking – Complete the process, and you're all set!
-
Can I book a class at any time?Yes, you can book a class at any time, as long as spots are available. First, purchase a Class Pass or Package from the 'Plans & Pricing' page on our website. Then, go to 'Book Classes' to select your child's session on Friday, Sunday or both. To ensure the best experience, we recommend younger kids (ages 5-8) attend the first two classes and older kids (ages 9-12) join the later sessions. Bookings are managed online, so you can secure a spot whenever it’s convenient for you!
-
What should my child bring to class? Here’s what your child should bring to class: A water bottle – Staying hydrated is important, especially during an active session. A reusable water bottle is recommended so your child can take quick sips during breaks. Comfortable sportswear & sneakers – Your child should wear breathable, flexible sports clothing that allows for easy movement. Proper sports sneakers with good grip and support are essential to prevent slips and ensure safe play. For safety reasons, kids not wearing proper footwear may not be able to participate. A basketball (if they have one) – If your child has their own basketball, bringing it along can help them get comfortable with their own gear. However, if they don’t have one, no worries! We provide basketballs for all players to use during the session. 🏀 Bringing the right gear ensures your child is comfortable, ready to play and gets the most out of their training!
-
How long is each class? Each class runs for 45 minutes, but we recommend arriving at least 5 minutes before the start time. To keep sessions running smoothly, we won’t be able to wait for late arrivals. If your child is late, they’ll need to join in once they arrive. Arriving on time ensures they get the full experience and don’t miss out on important drills and activities!

What skills do kids learn? At LTGA, kids develop a well-rounded set of skills that go beyond just playing basketball. They will learn: Dribbling – Improve ball handling and control, allowing kids to confidently navigate the court. Shooting Techniques – Focus on the proper form, accuracy, and footwork to make those crucial baskets. Passing & Teamwork – Learn the importance of effective passing and how to work together as a team to win games. Defence & Positioning – Master the skills of defensive positioning to stop the opposition and become a strong defensive player. Basketball IQ & Game Awareness – Develop a deeper understanding of the game including strategy, decision-making and court awareness. Confidence & Leadership – Build self-confidence on and off the court, while learning how to become a positive and supportive leader within a team. These skills help not only improve basketball abilities but also support personal growth, teamwork and leadership development!
-
How does LTGA track progress? At LTGA, we track progress through a combination of personalised feedback, ongoing assessments and coach observations. Here’s how we do it: Regular Performance Check-ins – Coaches monitor each child’s growth throughout their training, providing feedback on areas like shooting form, dribbling and teamwork. Skill Assessments – We periodically assess key skills like ball handling, shooting accuracy, defence and passing to ensure kids are improving and mastering new techniques. Goal Setting – Coaches work with kids to set individual goals, whether it’s improving free throws or becoming a stronger team player. We track progress and adjust goals as needed. Coach Observations – Coaches actively observe players during each class, noting improvements in game awareness, confidence and leadership both on and off the court. With these methods, we ensure that each child is progressing at their own pace and receiving the attention they need to succeed!
-
What payment methods do you accept? We accept credit/debit cards, PayPal and online payments via our website.
-
Can I transfer my package to another child?Packages are non-transferable and must be used by the child who booked them. One Package per Child – Multi-class packages cannot be shared between multiple children. If you have more than one child, you’ll need to purchase additional packages for each child. Discounts Available – We offer discounts for families with multiple children. Please contact us for more details on how we can support your family’s needs! This ensures fairness and helps us manage class sizes and availability for everyone. Thanks for understanding!

Are make-up classes available if my child misses a session?Yes, as long as we receive 24 hours' notice, we can reschedule based on availability.
-
Do you offer refunds?Refunds are not available for missed classes. With a minimum of 24 hours' notice, parents may reschedule a missed class to another session within the same term (subject to availability). Alternatively, the paid session can be credited toward a future class. Refunds are not provided for unused package sessions.
-
Do parents need to stay during the session?Parents are welcome to stay and watch during the session, but it is not required. We encourage you to enjoy the experience, but understand if you prefer to step away. Just be sure to collect your child at the end of the session to ensure they’re safely picked up when class finishes.
-
What safety measures are in place? At LTGA, we prioritise safety and take several measures to ensure a safe environment for all participants: Trained Coaches – Our coaches are well-trained in basketball fundamentals and safety protocols, ensuring each session is structured and safe for all players. Controlled Class Sizes – We keep our class sizes small to minimise risk and ensure that each child receives personal attention. Smaller groups allow for better supervision and safer gameplay. These steps help create a secure environment where kids can learn and have fun while staying safe!
-
Is LTGA insured?Yes! We have full public liability insurance to ensure a safe environment.
